Spring is a time of rebirth, of newness and rejuvenation. At Aboriginal Community Services we are celebrating the growth of our organisation, as new areas blossom so we are able to provide better care for our Elders. One of our core values is our commitment to continuous improvement. Here are 3 ways we have improved our services and systems so far this Spring.

  1.  Implementing a new software solution.

We have partnered with AlayaCare to utilise an improved operating system. This step forward in the area of tech will help us to optimise our operations, generate valuable insight, and give our staff access to reliable systems. We went live with AlayaCare on the 1st of September 2023, and to celebrate, our staff at the head office gathered to enjoy some yummy food and congratulate those who worked on the implementation. Switching to AlayaCare has changed the way ACS stores client information. We have reduced manual work and created better efficiencies through data accessibility. As our organisation is spread across the state, it is crucial that the correct level of client information is being provided to the right people at the right time. Importantly, the new software has increased our capabilities to meet reporting requirements. We were very impressed with our staff who handled the extra workload of this transition with commitment, and worked together for an outcome we are very happy with, and will result in a better quality of care.

  1. Launching our Instagram Account

ACS recently launched our new Instagram account so we are able to share our story and our mission more widely. We hope to use our Instagram to reach a broader audience, acting as a tool to educate people on the disparities of Aboriginal Aged Care, and celebrate our Elders and community. Be sure to follow and share!

  1. Reassessing our Elders

The Metro Team have been working hard to to ensure Elders are receiving appropriate care. Elders have been assessed and re-assesed by My Aged Care to grant them the best care they are eligible for. This period, many Elders transitioned from the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP), onto the Home Care Package Program, and are now receiving additional funding supports through their HCP. ACS has also been following the Aged Care Quality reforms closely, and note that from July 1st 2025, these programs will be merged under a new Home at Support Program.
