The Aboriginal Elders Village has been isolating, as per the directive of the Commonwealth Department of Health. When assisting Residents, through care or activities, AEV staff have been wearing masks as a reverse barrier.
A letter was sent to immediate family with the following criteria for visiting their family member: they are to call prior to set up a time to visit, they have had a flu vaccination and they can provide evidence of having done so, and on arrival, their temperature will be taken and they will be asked to wear a mask. Visitation is for a short period of time and either in the Resident’s room or outside in a specific area, and we ask that social distancing is observed.
Skype has now been set up to enable Residents to talk and see their family members and friends.
We have also welcomed four Elders from Tjilpiku Pampaku Ngura aged care facility in Pukatja, who have been staying at the AEV throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
