Our flexible, self-determination model ensures Elders — and their families — can choose the services that matter most to them so they can stay strong, healthy and connected to community and Country in their own homes for as long as possible.
Home Care
At Aboriginal Community Services, we work alongside Elders and their loved ones to arrange personalised home care that respects cultural values and supports independent living.
About Home Care Services
Aboriginal Community Services supports Elders to live independently at home for longer by helping them stay safe, healthy and connected through a number of aged care, health and wellbeing services.
Our culturally-trained team co-ordinates services and supports for Elders eligible under the Federal Government program that supports older Australians to age well for longer at home.
Culturally safe, responsive and respectful, our Elders-first approach means Elders have the power to shape the care and support they need, whether they live in metropolitan Adelaide or regional South Australia.
Levels of Home Care
The levels of home care support that can be provided to Elders can range from basic care needs to high care needs and varies to provide more personalised care for ageing Australians based on federal funding classifications and pathways.
Support services provided might include providing household chores, to home and garden maintenance, allied health services and shopping, or social and community events.
For more information on levels of home care visit the Federal Government site.

Keeping Elders Connected
Our social program is packed with opportunities for Elders to connect to culture, community and Country.
Each year, we hold major events marking important dates on the First Nations calendar — including NAIDOC Week, when we celebrate our culture by serving lunch and entertainment to more than 300 Elders and their carers from across the state.
We run inter-generational playgroups and hold Yarning Groups across metropolitan Adelaide in which Elders enjoy cooking, gardening, crafts and day trips, including visits to Monarto Zoo.
